This window was installed in September 2006 to commemmorate the last visit of Edward I to Lanercost, when he was a guest of the priory for almost six months. It was designed and executed by Christine Boyce, one of our parishioners

The window was unveiled at a service attended by HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, the Primus of Scotland, Dr Idris Jones, and the Bishop of Carlisle, Graham Dow.

The arms of Robert de Vaux, the founder of the priory.
A depiction of the unusual cross above the west end of the priory.
The arms of Lanercost Priory, derived from the jar of ointment presented to Jesus by Mary Magdalene.
The arms of Pentney Priory, Norfolk. It is thought that the first canons at Lanercost were from Pentney.
The Great Seal of Edward I. It marks the period when England and Wales (and Gascony) were ruled from Lanercost.
The Plantagenet arms of Edward I and those of Queen Marguerite, his second wife, who accompanied him on his visit to Lanercost.
